  1. I think everyone is forgetting probably the most influential person note mentioned. FRED BRANSON! Manager, mentor and friend to just about all of those mentioned above.

  2. This is a photo of the Stockton F.A.Junior representative team,it is selected from all the teams affiliated to the Stockton F.A.,this squad was mainly the Kiora Y.C. who had took over the mantle of being the areas top junior team after winning the Durham Youth Cup from the likes of Stockton Ex-Schoolboys & Billingham Synthonia, boys from the Fishburn & Sedgefield area in this squad were Keith Fearless,Paul Stephens,William(Billy)Pass & Ronnie Norman. Boys out of this Stockton squad who became notable players were Kevin Smith(Darlington & Coventry City),Mick Hollifield(Wolves),Keith Fearless(Scarborough Peterlee),Colin Richardson(Billingham Synthonia & Norton & Stockton Ancients),Steve Toth(South Bank & Guisborough),Les Bibbok & Stuart Fawdon(Stockton F.C.),apart from Keith Fearless the rest played for Kiora Y.C. a great success rate of junior players making it in senior football from one team.Others from Kiora that were top professional players were Keith Edwards(Leeds Utd,Sheff Utd & Hull City) & Gerry Forrest(Southampton & Rotherham Utd).

  3. LENNY NICHOLSON WAS THE MANAGER OF THIS TEAM, WITH FRED BRANSON AS THE COACH. LENNY RELINQUISHED THE JOB AFTER THIS WIN TO CONCENTRATE MORE ON HIS REFEREEING.

  4. When Gary Pallister played in this team about 1982,they were beaten in the semi-final away to Hartlepool 3-2,Gary was given a rough time by Hartlepool centre forward Neil Dobson who was built like a rugby player. The Stockton lads that played south of the Tees for teams like Head Wrightson,Thornaby Juniors & South Bank were not eligible to play for this team.

  5. Les Bibok used to live in new Arlington Street back in the early 1970s, he had a brother (Paul, I think) who joined the army and then later became a window cleaner. Their parents delivered milk around the area and were Hungarian. We lived in new 84 Camden Street at the time. Les was only small but had the heart of a lion. We used to play five-a-side at Tilery Sports Centre on Saturday afternoons about 1973, which at the time seemed like it was miles away! I was devastated when the Biboks moved to live up near Stockton Cricket Club about 1975 as we had become good friends with Les and we lost touch.

I went to school with Mick Hollifield and he was always a good footballer, as was Stuart Douglas (hairdresser in Redcar), Shaun Williams (fireman) and Steve Toth (another fireman – Northern League football for many years).

I also know Kev Smith as his family used to live down near the ‘raggy back’ back in the 1970s. Our paths crossed many, many years later when we supported his testimonial at Darlington FC. A testimonial he may never have received had it nor been for the fanzine ‘Mission Impossible’ supporting him against the manager Billy McEwan who wanted to get rid of him less than six months from ten years service.

  6. KEITH EDWARDS & GERRY FORREST BOTH PLAYED IN THIS TEAM A COUPLE OF YEARS EARLIER.KEITH EDWARDS WENT ON TO PLAY FOR LEEDS UTD,
SHEFFIELD UTD & HULL CITY,GERRY FORREST PLAYED
FOR SOUTHAMPTON 134 TIMES ALONGSIDE KEVIN KEEGAN & MICK CHANNON,WAS A LEGEND AT ROTHERHAM UTD,SOUTH BANK & IS MENTIONED IN BILLINGHAM TOWN’S WEBSITE OLD BOYS SECTION AS NOT GETTING INTO SOUTHAMPTON FIRST TEAM.

  7. Stewart Fawdon is correct apart from Keith Fairless(ex Scarborough & Peterlee), Paul Stephens & Billy Pass, the rest of the squad were from Kiora Youth Club. Chris Purcifer was the team captain & was a very good youth player.

  8. YES KEN ITS THE SAME PERSON, I”VE KNOWN “PERCY” FOR ABOUT 20 YEARS & THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE SEEN HIM WITH HAIR. HE LOOKS VERY MUCH LIKE HIS SON PHIL ON THIS PICTURE.

  9. Is this the Chris Purcifer who runs the Grangefield Youth Club and was a Training Instuctor at Heads Training Centre? He always said he played football and I didn”t believe him – Sorry Chris.

  10. Back L-R Eric Anderson, John Dargue,?, ?, Chris Purcifer, Kev Smith, Ged Briggs, Stewart Fawdon Front L-R Billy Pass, Ronnie Norman, Peter Daley, Col Richardson,Les Bibok, Micky Thomas. 8 or 9 of these players all played for Kiora Youth Club.

  11. Other players not in the photo who played a big part in winning the County Cup were Mick Hollifield(ex Wolves), Keith Fairless, Steve Toth, Paul Stephens, Glen Brookes & Shaun Williams.

  12.
