Jolly Japes at the Metropole

t14835I think this photograph was taken before the war (?) and shows L to R: Fred Robinson (Garage owner), George Winpenny (Gents outfitter), Hunter Martin (Tailor). In front on the hobby horse is S.D. Thorn (Manager of Kinnells Foundry, Thornaby). Taken in the Metropole Hotel.

Photograph and details courtesy of Anthony Bonner.

  1. I recollect that an old bone-shaker like this was in the Teesside Museums Collection.
When Teesside ceased to exist the collection was apportioned between the districts according to their museum collecting policies. So I suspect that this item ended up with Stockton, and may now be at Preston Park Museum?
