  1. If my memory serves me correct. There was a sign above the bar relating to credit. Credit will only given to persons over 90, accompanied by their grandparents. Anyone confirm this. Mid 1950s


  2. Meg, landlady of the Sun Inn, certainly stood no nonsense, but ran a great pub with the Bass ‘spot on’. Her son Terry took over for a while when she retired with Graham behind the bar. Had some great afternoons there. Meg’s calling time was “Anymore for anymore! “.


  3. Coming on leave in the 50’s I and mates would go to Sloans for a few rounds of Billiards then over to the Grey Horse for a couple of pints before heading to the dance. The Landlord would sit behind the bar serving and if your face did not fit you did not get served. I often wondered how he made it pay as quite a few got turned away. A funny way to run a pub.
