This is Head Wrightson Fettling Shop c1935 and looks in the other direction to ‘Unknown – any ideas‘. The crane is the same and a good reference point. Enid Thirlwell whose
office looked over the site said the men were out in the open in all weathers. The expressions on the men’s faces says it all.
A film titled ‘A Pride Job’ which looks at the extraordinary links between work and community that thrived at Head Wrightsons can be seen at www.heritage.stockton.gov.uk.
