  1. Wednesdays and Saturdays, year round! The marketplace was the heart and soul of Stockton in my early years. (I left Stockton with my family in 1957 at age 30 and still have strong memories of strolling through the aisles between the stalls and making the odd purchase. As a little lad I sometimes spent my Saturday’s penny on a bag of broken biscuits from Marsh, the Biscuit People, Another favorite in the same era was a bag of fishes – again for a penny – a boiled suite sold by another regular stall-holder. Was it Pinkney’s?
