  1. Frank Seddon was a well known Stockton Footballer ex Primrose Hill. Frank captained a very good Hull City team in late forties early fifties. Ron Hardwick was a stalwart of the Ashmores football and cricket teams for many years, and he was my boss as Chief Estimator for Ashmore Benson Pease.
Frank Seddon also had a senior position in Accounts at Power Gas Company, where another Stockton CC cricketer was employed George Beaumont, a Long serving member of the Stockton CC just after the war years..

  3. This shield brings back memories of nearly fifty years ago I have the identical shield here in Australia given to the Ashmore’s Cricket Team of 1968, who won the Teesside and Cleveland League also the mid week league that year. Some of the Ashmore players I recall, Barry Jeffs, Jeff Smith, Frank Seddon, Ron Hardwick, Tony Fowler (Capt), a good Standard of Cricket just below the North Yorks and South Durham league.

    • I have recently viewed the Memorial Shield which is in the care of Middlesbrough Borough Council. The Shield was originally presented in 1910 by the Rt. Hon. Herbert Samuel M.P for the Cleveland Constituency to the Cleveland Minor Cricket League.
In addition to the 1966 win Calf Fellow are shown as winning the Shield in 1955. The Club name also appears jointly on the Shield in 1959 and 1964 with Smiths Dock. I wonder if despite the passage of time anyone could enlighten me as to why.
After WW11 The Shield is inscribed only for winners between 1952 and 1969. Also could anyone able to advise me on which league calf Fellow played in.
