  1. Having seen Stockton High Street change its face over more years than I care to think about, from the dirt encrusted neglected but very lived in place it once was before and a long time after the war I much prefer it now. Having won the Best up and coming High Street award it is just as lived in and a family place as the turn out for the Christmas tree ceremony showed, it was packed and my family among them. Many mistakes were made along the way, well we all make those and in times of money being tight the Council had to use it to the best of their ability, yes we lost lovely buildings but those same buildings were not more than one hundred and fifty years old anyway, just how much of the past do we save? My opinion is a much improved forward looking Stockton and if we go back in time that is what it always was, a busy as we say go-getting area with people to match. Well done Stockton as one of your ancients I approve whole heartedly.
I would wish Laura and the Team a Merry Christmas and Very Happy New Year and Stockton carry on upwards and on into the future, no point in longing for a past that has long gone.

  2. With such an appropriate photograph I’d just like to thank the Picture Stockton team for their efforts throughout the year and in particular to Laura for her work at the sharp end and also to anyone else busying themselves behind the scenes rather like the elves in Santa’s workshop. A special mention too for Steve who slipped away quietly, metaphorically speaking, during the summer and I hope his beloved ‘Black Cats’ survive in the Premier League for another season but not at the expense of the ‘Mighty ‘Boro’!

And last but by no means least a big thank you to all those contributors of photographs and comments who make Picture Stockton what it is, a delightful cornucopia of life in and around Stockton over the years. A Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous 2017 to you all.
    Bah Humbug !
