Press Block Mould made for Ford at Parkfield Foundry c1998

t15429The first photograph shows a press block mould made for the Ford motor company c1998. The pattern is made from polystyrene and the molten metal is then poured into the mould burning out the polystyrene pattern.

The second photograph shows the 11 tons of iron being poured into the mould.

  1. These must have been taken before 1998 as stated because the foundry closed in 1996.
    Also, the first picture shows the Heavy Foundry wall crane still extant. It was removed in the early 80s as I recall.
