  1. My mother (Sylvia Youdale) was a burners mate at the ship yard during WW2. It still amazes me that she used to cart cylinders up and down ladders!

  2. Not sure what the building was, but you can clearly see it on the BFA website. The ground level seems to of been raised around it since it was built some time between the 1930’s & 50’s. Faint and in the background on the left of this photo, you can see the chimneys of the houses in the Pearl St., Kin Edward St. & Victoria St. area (which can be seen on the 1930’s BFA image).
