These photographs of the Thornaby Spitfire in a dismantled state were taken on 6th March 2007 while it was in store in a haulage depot in Billingham and might actually shatter the myth that it is a real Spitfire. Not even the RAF display real Spitfires on poles any more especially as each ‘real’ one can now command a price of around one million pounds!
Photographs and details courtesy of David Thompson
These photos were taken in the PD Logistics site on Cowpen Lane Billingham, The Spitfire was stored there for some time.

I wouldn’t mind buying it. I have all the flying gear, it would look great in my garden (chocs away).

You would need to be a rich man to buy that!!! Do we have any more details about it, like who’s is it, is it intact does it fly, etc?

Ian, it’s the ‘Thornaby Spitfire’ which is displayed on the Thornaby Road roundabout near Bader School. I think the Picture Stockton team may also in due course post a few more photos of its one and only flight !
